I'm Not A Sinner, But I Play One On TV

As a Christian, I remember when the Names of God were very popular.
My favorite was El Roi. The God who sees. It's very comforting.
God sees and knows everything that I am going through.
But then I'm thinking...
Oh no!
God sees!
And He knows...
Everything that I just did!
God can see everyone at all times. And He knows everything they do.
(In today's math, that would amount to about 8.4 billion people all at once.)
Now, I'll go back to my 5-year-old self. When I first realized that there was a God.
What if God had a control room in Heaven. With about 8.4 billion CCTVs. One for each person on the Earth.
Including me.
What if everything I said or did - from the day I was born - was recorded on video in Heaven?
Does that make me a TV Star?
Mari and the Great Cookie Caper
Director: "Mari to the set, please!
Lights! Camera! Action!"
Mom: "Mari, do you know who got into these cookies?
(5-year-old Mari answers Mom. But she is unaware that the 'evidence' is all over her face.)
Mari: "No, Mom."
Mom: "Ok, Mari. Go play outside. But just remember, God can see everything that we do... And He always knows the truth."
(Mari exits stage left as Mom cleans the cookie crumbs from the countertop and floor. Mom moves the chair back to the table.)
Mari is outside now but unable to play or have any fun. Because Mom's words are constantly ringing in her ears.
Mari: “God, Mom says that you can see and hear everything that I say or do. Mom asked me if I got into the cookies, and I said no. I'm sorry God..."
(Mari started crying very hard. She remembered singing "Jesus Loves Me" in Sunday School just yesterday. She runs back inside the house.)
Mari: "Mom?"
Mom: "Yes, Mari?"
Mari: "Is God mad at me? Does Jesus still love me?"
Mom: "Jesus will always love you, Mari! And why would God be mad at you?"
(Mom knows why. But she wants Mari to tell the truth.)
Mari: "I got into the cookies and I said no. You said God could see it."
(Mom puts Mari on her lap. She gently wipes the tears from her face. And then the crumbs from her mouth.)
Mom: "Mari, God only wants the truth. As soon as you tell the truth, God forgets the lie, forever. Just like it never… ever happened!
Mom gave Mari a huge hug and set her back on the floor. Now, go back outside and play. You're underfoot!"
Mari: "Mom?"
Mom: "Yes Mari?"
Mari: "I love you!"
Mom: "I love you too Mari!"
Director: Cut to edit...
(The scene depicted is an intentionally fictionalized account. Any resemblance to actual persons or events is purely coincidental. Mari never took the cookies! Lol...)
Post-repentance Epilogue:
The scene was left on the cutting room floor. Then it was immediately swept up by maintenance and thrown in the incinerator.
Even as a Christian, I do still sin. But I am not a "sinner". That is, I do not live in, or practice sin as a lifestyle. Consider these verses:
If we say we have no sin, we lie and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sin, God is Faithful and Just to remove our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-10
Those born of God cannot sin because God's seed remains in them. 1 John 3:9
These verses do not contradict each other.
John is saying that the Christian who is Truly in Christ cannot continue to live in (or practice) sin.
No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning. 1 John 3:6.
I do sin every day. But as a Christian who confesses and repents.
When I do, I am not identified by sin. I am identified as the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Since we know that God really does see and hear everything... Does it change the way we live?
Smile. You”re on not-so-Candid-Camera!
