Humble Brag

Mari Morris

Copyright 09/09/2026

Truthfully, I have never been the kind of person to brag about anything.

Ever…

I only mention this because I happen to be writing on the topic.

But I have always been the most humble person I know.

And I am extremely proud of that.

As I should be.

Not only that,

But…

I am also a hearer and a do-er of the Word.

That means that I let another person praise me, and not myself.

Even so, all the people in my life who tell me what I want to hear - always tell me how humble I am.

So, it's not just me saying it.

Which makes it reliably true...

I'm also really good at quoting the Bible.

One of my favorite verses is the one where Haman says:

"Who would the King possibly delight to honor more than me...?"

And I could not agree more.

By the way, I added the word "possibly" in that verse for maximimum emphasis.

Just so the Bible makes itself really clear.

(I felt the need to quote myself there.)

And one more thing...

I don't ever joke about anything.

Because the Bible says to avoid coarse jesting.

And I'm always Amazing at doing what the Bible says.

(Did I mention that one, yet?)

It helps me to avoid the appearance of evil.

And even though you don't know me (as well as you should)…

I believe that you can see for yourself now, how very well I follow the Bible.

Just wondering...

Have you gotten my point about PRIDE yet?

I am sure that it is so obvious now, that you can’t un-see it.

When it comes to pride it’s not necessary to give the most glaring example, (as I have just done...).

Because it can be the little foxes that spoil the vine.

And it isn't a matter of how prideful either.  It's just plain pride...

Because a little leaven leavens the whole lump. Galatians 5:9 ESV

Pride goes before destruction.  A haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 NIV

God rejects the proud but He gives grace to the humble. James 4:6 ESV

From this day forward

When I boast

I will only boast …

In Jesus Christ.

Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

1 Corinthians 1:31 NIV
