One String Banjo
Mari Morris
Copyright 09/06/2026
Could I ask you to bear with me a little in my folly?
While I play you a tune on my one string banjo?
Did I happen to mention - (in case I start harping on the subject), that my harp also, only has one string?
Would that I could also play using a rhythmic drum. But alas, my drum also, only has one beat.
Now that I have a symphony of instruments at my disposal, do you still have time to listen to the song that I will play? It’s called:
Encourage One Another
As Christians, it seems to be one thing that we have in common with everyone else in the world.
Every single man, woman, boy and girl that has ever lived and breathed on the earth needs encouragement in every good pursuit.
The Bible commands Christians in particular, to encourage each other.
But when I look around, here’s what I often see in the world.
(Which I try to use as a checklist of what Not to do…):
“Here’s what I think, don’t you agree? Here’s what I want. What I feel. What I need."
(Enough about you...)
"Back to more about me and what I am doing.”
Just one question before I write anything else:
Did any of that encourage you when I said it?
Let me answer for you.
No!
Yet, those are the things that tell me Exactly where my heart really is….
And if I Ever realize that I am acting that way, I want to “mark and avoid” myself… Lol.
Instead, I just repent and start to walk in the other direction.
According to the Bible, here’s what I should be doing instead:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Philippians 2:3 NIV
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
Be mindful to be a blessing (Especially to the Household of Faith). Galatians 6:10
A generous soul will prosper, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is still called “Today” Hebrews 3:13
God...who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:4
...and let us consider how to encourage one another to love, and good deeds as you see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25
...speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5:19
Now that you have heard the tune that I played…
How do you like my “One String Symphony”?
