No tight clasped bud, waiting, unfurled,
No radiance of colour bright,
No bursting bloom, breathtaking sight,
No golden fluffy stamen peeps
From slow, unfolding floral deeps,
No glorious dress to wear, adorn –
Instead I bear the piercing thorn.
No sharing in a posy-gift
To express thanks or spirits lift,
No nestling with the blooms that lay
With trembling joy in bride’s bouquet,
No place upon a podium stand
In floral competition grand,
But separate, I stand forlorn
And bear instead a piercing thorn.
No part of Eden’s opening day
In vast Creation’s great array.
Perfection, bliss, I did not see
But with sin’s curse I came to be.
Men shrink from me, each sharp recoil
Reminder is of earth’s despoil:
Pain, suff’ring, sin, a world war-torn
Are symbolised by my sharp thorn.
I saw the day when evil men
Tore thorns from my sharp piercing stem
And weaved the barbs into a crown –
With mocking laugh they pressed it down
Into my Maker’s sinless head –
Silent He bowed, in grief He bled.
He bore the pain, the taunts, the scorn
And regally wore my crown of thorn.
I have no waxy petal curled,
No tight clasped bud, waiting, unfurled,
I have no radiant colour bright,
No bursting bloom of glorious sight,
But I’ve a tale of countless gain:
Wonder! Through thorn-filled grief and pain
The Saviour wore a crown of mine,
To die to bring new life divine.
Redemption on the curse-d tree,
He died so sinners could go free,
And live with Him eternally
In a thorn-free eternity.

It is such a creative take on the crown of thorns Jesus wore from many perspectives.
Your poem depicts the heartache sin has brought in the world.
Fortunately, the curse will end when Jesus comes again.
And regally wore my crown of thorn."
And the last stanza speaks such comfort and hope to us:
"Redemption on the curse-d tree,
He died so sinners could go free,
And live with Him eternally
In a thorn-free eternity."
