Moonlight, ripe with sun’s flaxen harvest, flows in stepped mercurial waves and bids the grieved onward.
Yet between bank and rippled light stands a breach, a chasm fixed that no man may pass.
If winged, the bereft would fly; but mortal sinews restrain their forward steps. “Unbind us,” they cry, their souls seeking to null the unbearable touch of absence. Their plea heard naught by none.
For even as all are near; so too are all - foreign to grief- made deaf.
But in God, there is hope – the groaning of our souls fully understood.
Golden stairs burnished by foot treads of loved ones now asleep taunts us at river’s edge. Flights of iridescent stairs descend from a silent moon. Golden steps made Divine in past moments of grace spiral down.
The stars – sentinels of solitude – keep their holy vigil. We mortals reach up, yet heaven’s light is static beyond our grasp. Tears blur our eyes - light becomes liquid. The laments of our hearts stand angelic in its diaphanous halo - waiting.
Cherished visions seen dimly in a mirror until face-to-face – immeasurable grant of piety to mourning souls.
Yawning chasm fixed between bank and rippled light. Space transcended not by leap of tendon, ligament or bone - but by faith. And caught there mid-air by He who bears our grief – and remembers our sorrows that they be wiped away.
Fierce upon the water - beyond the bank’s edge - light, rippled and shimmering lies.
And, at the appointed time – in confident belief – we are carried across the gulf. Our feet set upon the once distant steps to complete our journey home.
And - at last - into the arms of for whom we once grieved.

Absolutely stunning!
It was all excellent but I loved the ending the best.
