Every year she looks forward to its first bloom. This year the rose was exceptionally beautiful and
full of buds. She asked me if I could take photographs of it to share with her other flower friends.
It was a beautiful warm summer day with a heavy early morning dew. The peach buds shimmer
with a kiss of dew water. I enjoyed finding the right light and angles to make the rose bush burst
with a glow. After about an hour, I came in to review the shots.
When I finished, I decided to go out again for more photographs set in afternoon light. As I
walked toward the rose I was startled by a mischievous chipmunk with several peachy petals sticking
out of his chubby cheeks. As I approached, he fled beneath a nearby stump. I stooped down to
pick up the mangle rose petals. I knew my photography session was over.
As I looked toward the stump, the chipmunk poked out his head. One rose petal protruded from
his lips. He seemed to smile at me and say, “I’m story but I just couldn’t help myself. After all, the
rose looked so peachy and it was so tasty! I just couldn’t resist!”
