Took all the drugs I could.
My soul was in confusion
My heart was made of wood.
I was not a Christian
I did not believe in God.
I could not accept the fact
That I was made of sod.
I was temporary
I was going to die.
The sadness, overwhelming;
I did not know why.
Evil had a death-grip
On my very soul.
Even in my youthfulness
I felt so very old.
Then one day it happened
The Spirit spoke to me.
Talked about this Jesus
And how He set me free.
He was put to death
He stood in my place.
So I could be forgiven
Feeling my Father’s grace.
I have stopped my sinning
With a knocking at my door.
I asked Jesus in my life
How could I ask for more?
We have this great connection
He now answers all my prayers.
When I was lost and all alone
He showed me someone cares.
My drug days now are history
My sinful life has cracked.
He saved me from a painful death
There is no looking back.
He’s the one here with me
He opens every door.
He holds me close and loves me
‘Cause that’s what friends are for.
