Think of three small ropes as the Holy Trinity. God the Father is one cord, God the Son is another cord, and God the Spirit is the third cord. As you put them together you have a strong threefold cord. They are one.
The threefold cord is waiting to be picked up and utilized. It all depends on who is at the other end if it will be used correctly or not. Sometimes the threefold cord is put in such a tight knot that it can’t be untied.
Imagine that you are at the bottom of a deep ravine and cannot get out. What would you do?
1) Scream for help;
2) Pray for someone to help you
3) Stay where you are and give up.
Wouldn’t you want someone to walk by with the threefold cord to save you?
Then why didn’t you grab on when the other person offered you the threefold cord? Did you not realize he wanted to save you? What would you do if it was the only opportunity you had?
This was an example of a person of the world who felt hopeless in his life. He thought there was no way out from the stressful struggles surrounding him. This was also when a willing Christian walked over to him and told him about the Holy Trinity and offered by telling him that the threefold cord would save him, but he didn’t accept Him.
The threefold cord is safe to hold on to, especially when knowing that the other end is the Holy Trinity. We always need to hold on to the other end of this strong rope: when we are alone, when we are scared, when we are grieving, even when we are joyful and thankful—always. The threefold cord gets us through every circumstance everyday of our life; so we need to hold on tight.
It all depends on who grabs on to the other end. It could be someone who accepts the threefold cord and has found their stronghold. He loves the Holy Trinity.
Or, it could be someone who held on to the other end for a little while. Then the threefold cord was dropped. He still enjoyed the ways of the world too much, and chose to stay in it, and ignored what he had learned about the Holy Trinity.
Then there was someone who rejected the threefold cord all together. That person never picked the rope up. He wanted nothing to do with the Holy Trinity. This is when the strong rope is tied in such a tight knot that it can’t be untied.
The Holy Trinity is the threefold cord in all of our lives. He is still in everyone’s life; if they like it or not. No one can get rid of His existence. He is omnipresent, which means no one can hide from our ever present God. He is omniscient, which means He knows everything, and He is omnipotent, which means He is all powerful. Only the sincere people know and believe the Holy Trinity is in their lives because they grabbed on the other end of the threefold cord.
1 John 5:7 (NKJV)—For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
