Standing alone up against the wall
Pride goeth before the mighty fall
A weary man canít find his place
Evil then attacks itís prey

Walking through the world alone
Terror in his soul as one
Lonerís heart beats fearfully
Spirit cries out tearfully

Enemies line up to call
On he who stands alone at all
Fighting ever viciously
Tearing at him ruthlessly

Suddenly from heavenís floor
A loving woman comes ashore
Where one was standing all alone
There now are two and twice as strong

Evil now must stand back
Twice the powerful attack
One is easy, two are harder
Lucifer retreats into his harbor

No longer is the one alone
Two have made the union strong
Vows of love and honor follow
Standing before Godís alter

Twice the strands the cord is stronger
Strife and weakness are no longer
Two now stand together as one
Fear and agony they are gone

Then comes into play the third strand
God in heaven does command
The first two cords of this new life
A repented man and his wife

God joined together this woman and man
Bound to each other by two strands
The third one makes the bond unbroken
For it is GodĎs and he has spoken

One alone can be easily attacked
Two together can fight back
Three even better with our Lord
For three strands are not easily torn apart

Good picture of what will make a marriage strong. It goes without saying that today's world needs to know this. Good writing.

I enjoyed your rhythmic and to-the-point poem. In one sentence that I remember you did not capitalize "He" when referring to God to show reverence to Him. Also, I was just a little puzzled by the last verse; to me it did not rhyme and I wondered if you did that purposely. In any event, you are obviously skilled in doing rhyme, something I am not.

Beautiful message, powerful imagery. Nice job with this lovely poem that was completely on topic.

God Bless~

The third one makes the bond unbroken
For it is GodĎs and he has spoken

Love those lines; He has indeed spoken. Good job.

If only all married couples realized this, there would not be so many divorces. Good job!

This is really lovely. I could see it being read at weddings. The only red ink I might have is that many people have written about marriage and reciting the Ecclesiastes verse. Though it has been done, I still enjoyed it and it touched my heart. The flow just rolls off the tongue. The message is clear and doesn't come off as preachy but more of a passion that you are eager to share with others.
