She brushes her teeth, dries her toothbrush, and then places it in her toiletry bag. Linda is a disciplined individual and very meticulous about how she interacts with the world around her. If anything goes awry, even in the slightest of details, it can throw Linda straight into a tizzy. If in distress, only the miraculous can turn her upside down, right side up.
Her designer luggage is neatly arranged by the front door -- lined up like soldiers waiting for their orders -- from large to small and spaced equally apart. The plane ticket, itinerary, traveler’s checks, and passport were in an organized pile next to her handbag. Her lists were reviewed and checked off three and four times. She was ready to depart and with a clear conscience -- everything was in order.
Linda barely finishes her coffee when she hears a beep from the limousine outside. He is early she thought to herself, this is a good thing. She reflects further, one can never be too early for the usual airport antics, especially when flying overseas. She hurries hoping to avoid another beep from the driver.
They greet each other while she points to her luggage located outside her front door. She opens the car door and enters. “Whew! I can finally take a deep breath and relax.”
The drive to the airport was uneventful, and the driver made good time. Fortunately for Linda, typical traffic was avoided due to her early flight. She considered an evening flight, but figured pilots would be more alert for a morning run. The driver double parks, gets out, and opens her door. Linda smiles as she exits. She mutters under her breath, “This must be how the other half lives.”
She waits patiently for the driver on the cement curb with her plane ticket in hand. The driver clicks his remote to pop the trunk, and with a distinctive limp, he approaches the trunk.
He peeks inside. “Houston we have a problem!”
“What’s seems to be the problem sir!”
“I forgot to load your luggage.”
“Is this a practical joke?” She begins to sweat and red blotches appear on her face. Her insides are dancing a jig. She was convinced this could never happen to her, not after all her preparation.
“Nope, I’m afraid it’s all my fault. I just started taking some new medication to reduce my tumor size. Sadly, one of the side effects is forgetfulness. Imagine forgetting right after you’ve been told or shown something.”
Linda is perplexed. How does she criticize a man who may have a terminal illness? “Okay. Let’s think this through calmly.” Tapping her foot with arms folded and hands tucked under, “I’ve got it! Let me call my neighbor.” She checks her watch and flips her cell phone open. “She’ll put my luggage in the house.”
Wanting to share the specifics of her forgotten luggage, she walks away to gain privacy. Not all was lost; Linda’s neighbor is also the host to their women’s weekly Bible Study. Before hanging up they prayed together for God’s revelation, and for only good to come from this apparent dilemma.
She walks towards the car. “Sir, I want you to know that I forgive you.”
“Miss, I don’t know what to-,” the driver’s voice trembles as he speaks.
“No need to say anything further!” She grins. “What luggage? I didn’t have any luggage.” She leans towards him and puts her hand on his. “Your forgetfulness has brought to my remembrance that God has done the same for me. As far as the east is from the west, He has removed my sins. He has buried them all in the depth of the sea.”
The driver smiles, “I am amazed that every once in a while a miracle takes place to turn my upside down, right side up!”

I did notice one word that did not match the rest of the tenses: He is early she thought to herself, this is a good thing. The word, 'thought' to 'thinks'. A wonderful story!
