who freely gives your time,
or freely gives others
a piece of your mind?
Do you lavish
others with praise,
or give them advice
to follow your ways?
Are you one who’s eager
to share a kind word,
or is it on you
when the pot is stirred?
Are you generous in
the help you extend,
or do you instead
judge without end?
Do you give money
to meet other’s needs,
or criticize them,
cut them off at the knees?
You can be generous
in many diff’rent ways –
to cut down and judge,
or encourage, upraise.
And not only that,
but please also know,
your attitude matters
in what you bestow.
Is your motivation
to strive to please,
or when you give,
do you do it with ease?
Are you generous only
when it’s obvious, shows,
or do you give
when no one else knows?
True generosity
is genuine,
it flows from the heart,
it comes from within.
So please remember,
it’s up to you,
the how and the why
of what you do.
As you think of giving
generously,
which kind of person
will you choose to be?
