A world reborn again
As it’s been many times before
By God’s creative hand.
Fresh snowfall had erased the grime
Of winter’s drab landscape.
Still falling, lightly fluttering,
Were star-shaped crystal flakes.
Soft landed they on frozen ground—
It was a lovely sight,
Like fleeciest of fine bedspreads
Crocheted in purest white.
On front porch chairs, now marbleized,
It somehow seemed to me,
The phantom ghosts of summer past
Were sitting weightlessly.
The freezing naked tree limbs,
That once were dressed in green,
And shrubs that shivered in the cold
Were mantled like rich queens.
The lamppost, standing sentry, wore
A cloak of eiderdown
And to accessorize his wrap,
A hat with full-pouched crown.
The old stones in the garden fence,
When touched by sun’s bright rays,
Were crystalline-iced diamonds
That shone as though ablaze.
There was an awesome quietness
With everything transformed.
The earth was ready for first breath
To take in world reborn.

God bless~
I enjoy the purity of a fresh snow blanketing the earth before it turns into grayish sludge.
