the side of survival of the fittest
or the strongest
or the meanest
And I wonder again
Where are You?
Who are You?
Are You watching?
Do You see how we've turned the clear
black and white lines of
right and wrong
to gray?
Do you feel our lukewarm
acceptability of it all?
We have made life
a stale and old cup of coffee
Where are You?
Why won't You do something?
We demand it, but
it is like You have closed
the door between us
and locked it.
What is the key?
And where is it?
Abel had it when
he presented his best.
Moses had it when
he took off his shoes.
Isaiah had it when
he allowed his lips to be
touched by a burning coal
These knew You.
We want to know you, too
So we have said.
And You
have answered
through Your Son.
Jesus said, "Anyone who has
seen me has seen the Father." John 14:9 (NIV)
We killed Jesus.
And we have gone
on our anemic way
pleasing ourselves and
blaming You
when life is hard.
We do the very things
You have commanded us
not to do.
We are the ones who
keep the door locked,
put the key
somewhere that
we have trouble remembering.
We have forgotten Your
very holiness. Forgotten
to be in awe.
Yet still, You are
ready to forgive us,
welcome and bless us.
You are the same yesterday, today and forever.
You are YHWH, Mighty, pure and holy;
The Great I Am
Forever and ever, world without end.
We will bow down before You.
