When their door opens to grim military faces they know what devastating news awaits their aching hearts. As the door quietly shuts behind the officers, a mother and father cling to each other, shedding tears for their fallen hero. “God, where were you when our son needed your protection?”
Two cars collide and in an instant lives change forever. “Weren’t you watching over our loved ones? Why did You let this happen?” . . .just some of the questions rolling over in the minds of family members as news of the accident reaches their ears.
Starvation in a world of plenty, disease, homelessness, helplessness, hopelessness--and victims wonder if God sees what’s going on. Dark clouds loom on their horizons. In some cases, faith cracks and crumbles like ancient brick foundations. “Do we even matter to you, God?” This question echoes in the silence of a rat infested dwelling where a few desperate people seek shelter from a howling storm.
Handicaps and disabilities invade wombs of expectant mothers. Their dreams for their unborn babes wither and blow across the dry lands of shattered hearts. Some may contemplate abortion. Others fear their child is now sentenced to a life of being shunned, ridiculed and always feeling “less than”. “God, how can my love be strong enough to soften all the hard blows ahead for my child?”
God hears the sobbing words from hearts writhing with pain. He cries along with each of His children. In this fallen world, life is unfair. But God will provide the comfort, strength, encouragement, and answers needed if we only ask in faith. And someday, when the glories of heaven wrap us in everlasting joy, we will question no more.
Romans 8:28 NLT And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Psalm 31:7 NLT I will be glad and rejoice in Your unfailing love, for You have seen my troubles, and You care about the anguish of my soul.
