Slumber reveals such tender scenes,
An elderly couple, familiar somehow
A photo once seen--can’t remember now.
Calmness hangs soft like weightless gauze
O’er shoulders thin and arms like straws,
A quiet peace surrounds her waiting--
His biding time--exasperating.
Child, your pace is weary, you walk as if through sand
Give to me your burdens, here, place them in my hands.
I watch the man familiar pass ‘neath an arch of Hope
And after passing through it, he had the strength to cope.
The man had to surrender who never was his own
He knew God was calling his sweet wife from His throne.
She whispered parting words, he kissed her in his sorrow
Her faith made it clear she was only his to borrow.
Sobbing I observed this woman slight in size
Yield to perfect Love, peace-filled was her demise.
Pure joy left a smile on her sunken face,
Brilliant was His light--she woke in His embrace.
The atmosphere exuded such serenity
Her husband claimed his comfort in the Trinity.
My slumber scene faded like early morning’s mist,
The frame that I captured was when the couple kissed.
Life, the here and now is short-lived at its best
Spend time wisely, prudently choose your quests
When true love is found, it’s a priceless treasure
Our Father’s love much more--beyond human measure.
