Will take some concentration,
So lend me both your ear and mind
And hear my lucubration.
He says I am his famulus --
I strive to earn my keep.
I’ve been decoding fancy words,
And hardly ever sleep.
He says I can interpret
What is running through his head
Into the language of the crowds
So they’ll know what they've read.
The other day he dropped a sheet
Of parchment on my desk.
A single glance assured me that
The words were picturesque.
They had specific meaning
And each syllable revealed
He was in truth a master.
Thus, my awe was unconcealed.
The very tenor of his thought
Was etched in keen precision.
A diaglyph inscribed upon
A jewel I did envision!
With passion and alacrity
My pen I set in motion,
Determined to decipher
Every thought with true emotion.
Yet, alas! I am a failure;
My mental prowess has expired.
Upon the threshold of success
It is forever mired.
A single word spelled H-U-H
Which rhymes with you or duh
Eludes the realms of concise thought
And leaves me thinking, “Huh?”
