Recently on the farm, we were visited by a salesman for solar systems and roofing. As I listened to him, I noticed he had an accent and I asked him what country he originated? He said he was born 50 years ago in Russia and has been in the U.S. since 1981. My first question was, "Is it true the churches of Russia are filled each Sunday?" This interesting man named Alexander said yes, and his family attend a church in Moscow before they left. He also attended a Christian church with his grandmother and was saved and baptized at this little country church. He described in detail the small church and then we discussed the Bible and how our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has affect his life. It was an answer to their prayers to be able to leave Russia, with his parents. They were originally Russian/Jewish from the Ukraine part of Russia, and changed to Christians before the war. His father, in the U.S. is still living and was a Russian Air Force fighter pilot during the war. It is believed his father is the only one still living from his flight group, according to his son. Many of this extended Jewish family were sent to work camps during the war, however, he still has relatives in Russia.
After hearing what this man and his family went through to get in our country, we see in 2Timothy 4:5, " But watch thou in all things, endure difficulties, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." He is not afraid to talk about our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and thanks the Lord for saving him and bring him to this country. He says, he does not understand the people in this country not attending church when the Lord has so blessed this nation over and over, like none other in the world. It was a blessing to speak with this Christian man from Russia and see how the Lord has directed his life over the years.
Our Lord answered this families prayers and they were allowed to leave a country which they did not feel safe and had a long history of being un-Godly. We as Christians, the world over, are now in the minority and in some areas are being persecuted like never before. We see in the Bible, John 14 1:3, "Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
Our time on this earth, serving the Lord, is only numbered in few years, however, we can look forward to our heavenly home. When our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ calls us home, to be with him, that will be a wonderful day and our Lord will provide us a safe home for eternity.
