As my ratty car hums down the road,
I practice what I'll say to them.
All the things that's happening,
to this man I am.
It seems long ago it happened,
the time I discovered God.
In a far, far place unknown,
it was so very odd.
I was so lost and all alone,
could not find my way.
Could not find a song to sing,
nor a word to say.
The sins on me were heavy,
bent me down so low.
How I'd escape the weight of them,
I would never know.
I came upon this fellow,
walking down a dark cold street.
He changed my life, this fellow,
the dark one that Id meet.
He put His arm's around me,
He said it would be OK.
The words that He had said,
soothed me in every way.
He said His name the Father,
He was here to bring me home.
Lift this heavy burden,
so I would never roam.
This I will tell the people,
this place He has for some.
On his car a tune up,
so down the road he'd hum.
I have found a place now,
for my eternal life,
Never to be worried,
safe from every strife.
