and on we walked
We walked together
We went on and on
We talked, chatted, giggled
We enjoyed each other’s company
Then...
alas!
I felt my hands free
He was gone
I searched, strained and
craned to see afar
Not a glimpse.
Then a glimpse behind
a mist
I caught it only in a flash
Then it faded.
I strained all the more
and found I’ll have to walk
I’ll have to trek
I’ll have to climb. Climb?
I’ll also have to descend. Descend?
Oh goodness
It looked like a cave
I’ll have to scramble
crawl…
I’m tired
I feel all alone
Looked around me, and was cold
All was stone
I started for the journey
Another glimpse
He appeared to be arms open
waiting for me, smiling sweetly
I began. Ran, trekked, slouched
scrambled, stumbled, fell, rose…
My throat painfully dry
I was thirsty, I pressed on
And…
within some metres I was close
So close!
He reached out before I
could finish
Gathered me and cuddled
me all up in His arms
Oh…
And he said to me
‘I only wanted you to grow
I wanted you to know…
...My ways
See how you’ve grown’
