As a Christian I have found that sometimes I am on fire with my faith and everything seems to fall into place. I am joyful and very confident and want to share my joy with the world. My sharing could be through writing, music, or dance.I feel so alive and loving God and others seems to come naturally and without much effort.
But there are times when there may be difficulties in my life or perhapes a death. My faith seems cold.I have a hard time finding the energy to love, because I am so focused on nuturing myself, so I can handle the overwhelming feelings. These are the times I ask God questions such as,why did this person have to suffer? Why do I have to go through this? Where are you?Are you here or not?
If I were to ask you which stage would be more applicable to growing in love and faith, what would you say? What I have found is when my faith seems cold I tend to have to dig deep and reflect on what I believe.Maybe I need to change some of my ideas if I going to grow. For example, if I think Jesus will make my life effortless and painless, I will learn that we all have a cross. If fact that is one of the requirements for bring a follower of Jesus. There are some beliefs that are apart of the foundation of faith and they are the back bone. They will not change. They will only get stronger as we grow. Fow expample to love God and our neighbor as ourself.
Yes,my faith may be hot and cold yet on a very firm foundation that can weather any storm.
