“For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption and forgiveness of our sins.”
Colossians 1:13-14
There are many reasons people are called heroes. However the most common reason people are called heroes is that they rescued someone, or some people. Heroes save us from our troubles. And “unsung hero” is one who has done a good deed, yet does not get the recognition they deserve. Jesus, in some ways is an “unsung hero.” A lot of people do recognize that he died for their sins and saved them from darkness. But Jesus came to save ALL and not ALL sing His praises! Its like they are drowning in a lake, someone rescues them from the lake, and they still walk around like they are dying, and they do not acknowledge the fact that there is a saviour who can save them form the mess they are in. the do not thank Jesus for His salvation because they do not know Jesus or what He did for them. Not only did Jesus die for them, and all people, but He pled on our behalf to the Father (Luke 23:34). He took upon all our sins and because of that, in His perfection He was unable to be with the Father, His own father. God is just and the sin Jesus carried for all mankind made it impossible for Him to be with God for that time.
Jesus reward is in Heaven and now He is sitting at the right hand of the Father. He is in glory and the angels praise His name. He has it good! And He deserves it, but He is also worthy of all our praises! When someone saves your life, you want to repay them right? Jesus saved our lives, our souls, our future, gave us eternal life in Christ, and many, many spiritual, physical, and financial blessings. The least we can do is live a life of gratitude.
Instead of making Jesus an “unsung hero”, maybe we should sing His praises for all the world! Share the love of Christ, and when good things come our way, thank Him privately and publicly. He wants us to share the good news which we have received when we became believers. Salvation is for everyone. Jesus is for everyone! He is our hero, He saved the day, and He saves all who call upon His name!
