Moaning and groaning, what a sad crowd,
Complaining daily regarding their lack,
Of their good fortune, they have lost track.
Those who whimper at every turn,
Who have it so well but yet they burn,
In envy of what other people possess,
Bemoaning the fact that they have less.
The blessings of God they do not count,
Grace that rains in a great amount,
Failing to see that to be in good health,
Is better by far than the greatest of wealth.
I confess I have been such a gloomy Gus,
So ungrateful I was, always making a fuss,
Wasting for want of what others had,
Pouting resentment, going quite mad.
When tragedy struck, God came to me,
He opened my eyes, He made me to see,
Envisioning my life about to be over,
Beneath His safe wings, I ran for cover.
Upon a bed I lay surely dying,
No time for childish pity or crying,
God spoke to me of important things,
A soul to be saved; a heart that sings.
He healed my body, He mended my heart,
He gave me courage to make a new start,
Tears flowed anew of a different kind,
Gratitude, joy, and peace of mind.
Feeling at once God's amazing grace,
As death confronted me face to face,
Material wants were things of the past,
True riches were mine to claim at last.
Baffling grown ups, for crying out loud,
Once I followed that sad old crowd,
No longer though, does my spirit pine,
Wealth is God's love, good health is mine.

I loved it! Thank you for sharing your world in such an awesome way.
God bless~
Your rhymes were pleasant and I found a good rhythm too. Hardship and suffering are such great teachers. Do we really grow when we have it easy? I just posted a piece on this at my blog. http://www.growingupinjesus.com/5/post/2013/05/suffering-well-in-christ.html
