Topic: Current Affairs (05/31/12)

TITLE: I Pray The Best Man Wins
By Jeanette Oestermyer

What is happening with current affairs across our country? I have seen many presidential elections happen and other elections for less important positions at stake such as Mayor of a city or Governor of a state without so much terrible name calling and blaming another party or group for current conditions and problems.

Our current President is just finishing his first term of four years and the other party talk about how badly he has handled everything, especially the economy. This is amazing because the there was already a recession in the United States when the current President was elected. It is easy to see and believe it is okay to blame someone else for all the problems.

What I do not understand is why the opposite party did not want to cooperate with the current President to help get our country back on track. They would not cooperate with this president about anything. The opposite party says all they want to do is win the election and get him out of the White House. Further, they say he does not know how to lead and most of his suggestions are not good. He also passed a health reform bill that sounds somewhat better than the former bill we had. This is mainly about Social Security and Medicare. Americans who work at a paying job actually pay into Social Security each payday when a specific amount is deducted out of their current paycheck.

Our current President will be in power until after the fall election in November of this year. It seems that he is doing everything possible to have more jobs available so everyone who wants to work can find one. Just recently there was a report that job availability was down somewhat lower than it had been for several months and the opposite party is using that to “preach” that our current President has failed again.

One wealthy man keeps saying our President was not born in the United Stated and he should show his birth certificate to prove that point. This same man said he believes the President is a natural born citizen of the U.S. So why is he bringing up this old problem before the whole world again. All of those in authority of such situations are also satisfied that he is a “true American.” He was born in Hawaii, where he was raised by his grandmother.

The opposing party talks as if they want to change many programs that have worked so well through the years and I am praying that our current President wins the election, as he is truly interested in keeping our country the same, or possibly a much better kind of world.

How can these people of the opposing party ever call themselves Christians, when they do everything in their power to win this election weather it is legal or not. They are asking for a legal order to demand a photo from each person whom they believe may not have a drivers’ license or other identification to prove who they truly are. In this situation, it may be the senior population who will be left out.

Obviously on topic, good job with this entry. I've found through the years, that any presidential candidate, no matter which party...always blames the "FORMER" President for the state of affairs when he takes over. That includes all the way back to the 60's. LOL. So, as it is said in Ecclesiates, "nothing new under the sun."

I pray for all parties, and all leaders of the world. Their job is NOT an easy one.

Thanks for your well written entry. God Bless~

You make some good points and it seems like you are vested in educating and praying about this important election. Whatever side we fall on Democrat, Republican or somewhere in between the most important thing we can do is pray for the leaders of our country.
