And silently he began to pray
His prayer became like gibberish
Nothing seemed to come the right way
You see Thomas was a follower
Of the Christian faith you see,
He was moving he thought rightly
In the correct direction of his day
He had listen to all the pundits
As each and every hour of the day
Proclaimed our life would be dismantled
If we did not quickly bring about a change
You see Thomas was raised a certain way
And he could not see with open eyes
That the belief he embrace each day
Was from the beginning a deep rooted lie
How could we as Christians let this happen
Letting a man lead us in this way
But nothing was perfect about this man
So only believed in what his family would say
You see the comedy of errors comes to life
With his life in a very deceitful way
For he cannot see beyond what God made
That we all were created the same
He was color blind, to what his eyes perceived
His heart ran away from the truth it did see
But sin’s deadly embrace of deception
Was causing Thomas to now fall away
He would not listen to his spirits conscience
Who tried to tell the truth to him each day
But the way of life that he was taught
Was so deep rooted it would not go away
For God always gave the answer simply
If in His word Thomas would truly believe
That when He made man in His image
He did it hoping that we all would one day see
That a terrible lie has been held and fostered
By so many who say its God they serve
But they could not comprehend the truth
Even as God’s Spirit declares His holy word
How can you Thomas say you love Me
And hate your brothers that I did create
How can these feelings fester so deeply
That from your heart they cannot escape
Though your lips may speak out boldly
Dear Thomas it has never been my way
When my Fathers commandment was always
To love your human brothers each the same
For when you sin no matter how small
Never will you ever be able to escape
When you hate another because of a color
You despise what my hand did perfectly create
At that moment his mind seemed to awaken
As he realized now a choice had to be made
But will he choose the righteous path
Away from where deep rooted hate did lay
For like the rich man to whom Christ did speak
Telling him to give away all he had to the poor
Thomas turned His head away this day
Because he loved the error of his way much more
For its funny how the world can dissuade us
Making us always live and believe the lies
When all we have to do is pray for the spirit
Who will open God’s truth into our lives.
