What has happened to my youthful past?
Its clefts remain dormant yet unchanged
On the rocks my memory engraved.
As a child in wonderland - vision enhanced,
Keeping in sync of life's ever flowing dance.
The inhaling of nature's scent in the air.
Living only for the moment,
Without a care.
Chest inflating - lives renew
Returning the gift anew.
Senses stimulated by decaying vegetation;
Being aware at Wisdom of earth's restoration.
Invading twigs turf -
Snaps back, unforgiving
With a well construed sting!
Likened to past pursuits
I've later tried to swing.
Moss carpeted paths - unwinding
Feathering footsteps - that spring.
Fostering footsteps fleetingly,
Perpetually, as stairs to a slinky.
Time unlocked
Unmovable rocks
Unique formations
Randomly scattered.
It's proper place in time and space
Too irrelevant to matter -
As talk is to chatter.
But if life's lessons learned,
Leave those rocks unturned.
As weeping willows - passed
Refracts our decisions last.
These days dwelling alongside
Slick city streets,
Taking to most people I meet.
Life's not all concrete.
(I still have my feet!)
Lots has happened since - walls erect.
Lots will happen yet, (a sure bet.)
But as the pen directs, I choose to forget.
Locked onto this youthful scenario I've sketched.
I believe that beyond those clefts
On the rocks, I recollect,
My memories are lastingly etched.
