He was an unnamed, undated, priestly poet and highly prophetic writer from the sons of Korah.
Psalm 45: 1b, “My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” (NKJV)
This Psalm fully qualifies for our theme this week. The heart of our ready, skilful writer is not just overflowing with a good theme, but also with beautiful words by which he gives an excellent prophetic utterance concerning our King of kings and His bride to be. A must read!
What a challenge for us, to use the gift which we have received from God not just to write beautiful compositions for ourselves or to please others, but to glorify our King and to inspire others to do the same.
To admonish others, like he said in verse 10, “Listen, O daughter, consider and incline your ear, forget your own people also, and your father’s house.” Or like Paul said many, many years later in Philippians 3:13b, 14, “But one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the price of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (NKJV)
The ready writer, Paul and many others, have correctly used theirs pens to write letters, poems and doxologies, books using beautiful and healthy vocabulary by which we are being build up in our faith to this very day.
Quite a few of us have attained already a status of being named and famed, but many of us are still today, unnamed, unpublished writers. But all of our hearts can, by the grace of God, be overflowing with good themes and we can take our pens, or sit before our keyboards and write about what God has accomplished in our lives and what He can do - nothing is impossible with Him if we trust, obey, follow His Son day by day, hour by hour along the way He shows us.
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate [write about] on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4: 8, 9 (NKJV)
Thank you, son of Korah, and thank you, Paul of Tarsus, for your ready pens!
