Now
Red hearts, stained with sin, cry out for redemption.
Everlasting life can be ours,
Delivered through the cross
Then.
Our good works are like rust, ruining the iron tools.
Regarded as the ultimate laws, ordinances were passed down.
Anguish came to those who did not follow them.
Never remembering for long the ultimate purpose of the law,
Generation after generation
Engaged in man's idea of perfection.
Later
Yearning for the coming Messiah,
Eagerly they waited for that special day.
Lingering in the evening sky, a special star
Lit the Way.
Observant men would seek Him.
Wisdom that surpassed their own slept in the hay.
Soon
God became a man.
Redemption would fall upon Him.
Everyone, or so it seemed, rejected Him.
Even one of those closest to Him.
Neglected on the tree.
Next
Bursting forth,
Light filled the blue sky.
Undefeated by death, the grave could not hold Him.
Encased in light, He ascended to heaven.
Presently
Injustice reigns on earth.
Night descends, as the sky turns dark.
Done in the name of God,
Infidels try to take the glory.
God sees through the covering.
Our human atonement means nothing.
Future
Victorious at last,
Immanuel will come as King, purple robes of royalty around Him.
Omega. The end.
Light will pierce the darkness.
Earth as it is known now will pass.
Throughout the ages, He will reign on the throne.
Forever.
