For the Lord
Himself
will descend from Heaven
with a cry
of command,
with the archangel's call,
and with the sound
of the trumpet of God.
[1 Thessalonians 4:16]

"Lord*, are angels BORING?"
"Why do you ask,
child."
"Well, I read in this book that
You want to spend TIME.... with US!"
[NOD.]
"Why; is it because angels are,
like.....really STUPID?
And......they don't make good
CONVERSATION?"
[CHUCKLE.]
"I think so.
Most people see angels as kind'a
......AIR-headed, Ya KNOW?"
[SMILE.]
"Pretty......or, real handsome......
or, maybe really FIERCE-looking,
but, not a lot 'up THERE'....
Ya KNOW?"
"I understand, My precious."
"You're not gonna tell me,
ARE YA?"
"No."
"So.......they.....like, never
talk BACK to You?
Or......REBEL?"
(More squinting.)
"So.......do they ALWAYS do
what You SAY?"
"Hm, hm."
"Isn't that kind'a BORING?"
"No."
(Grimmace.)
"I dunno; I think that would
be sorta DULL."
[CHUCKLE.]
"Especially, what with all
that harp playing, and all."
"What harp,
My precious."
"Ya KNOW!
The harps!
The HARPS!"
"Ah.
[SLOW NOD.]
Yes.
The harps."
"YEAH!
THAT doesn't remind me
of YOU, at ALL!
(Frown.)
They're too.....PEACEFUL!
And......MELODIOUS sounding!
ECH!"
[SMILE.]
"What does, My child."
"Eh.......eh:
Big thunderous DRUMS?
Some BOOMING PIANO?
Ominous CHORDS?
The......SHOFAR?"
[LAUGH!]
"Tell Me about that one,
child."
"That.....big RAM'S HORN?
(Grimmace.)
Well......I don't like it,
at all. The blast outta one
of THOSE'll pop your EARdrums
out! It sounds like......"
"Yes?"
"Eh......it sounds like....
well, it sounds like a...."
"What, child?"
"A call.......to WAR!"
"Yes, child.
[NOD.]
It does."
*************************
Then I saw the seven angels
who stand before God,
and seven trumpets
were given to them....
The first angel
blew his trumpet,
and there followed
hail and fire,
mixed with blood,
which fell on the earth;
and a third of the earth
was burnt up....
[Revelation 8:2-7]
