Uniform shows rank.
Trained to take charge of a room filled with needy ones,
I am a nurse and paid to be here.
I know my duties.
'Get on and do' I say to myself.
So many ideas flying around my brain.
Like Florence Nightingale, make beds and tuck in sheets and blankets.
Make my charges comfortable.
Reposition when needed and remove all pain.
Dispense the meds, serve the meals and keep eyes wide open and smile as you traverse from left to right.
'Lives in my hands!'
Physicians' orders on named charts guide and lead our practice. Its a team based approach.
The unique strengths of all present are an asset indeed, in providing the best possible care to the sick but undergirded by love.
As I ponder my vocation I wish I could say, like Jesus did; “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk. At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked" {John 5:8 NIV}. For by His stripes we are healed.
{1 Peter 2:24 NIV}
One day "all things will be made new' {Rev 21:5 NIV}, and 'there will be no more death". So, no more sickness and no nursing needed!
