God likes us to be engaged in thinking. God is favorable to us asking questions, and while faith is the primary ingredient in pleasing God, “Without faith it is impossible to please God,’*1 God wants us to be, “able to give an answer to any person who asks us about the FAITH that is in us. *2
To answer one who asks of me, “Why I know the statement of faith I have spoken is true?,” or, “How I know any certain point being made is a fact?,” will NOT be enriched toward faith if I state, “Well, I know it because I believe.”
Many, to include Atheists, call that statement Blind Faith, and that is to me quite interesting because of all people on earth they have the most blind of Blind Faiths.
Atheists are appalled to be spoken of as people of FAITH, however, they ARE people of faith. It takes huge faith to commit your life to the assurance that physical death ends it all when they have not yet died, and there are many witnesses to the contrary.
ALL people are people of faith. All religions “believe” and commit themselves to the practices and tenants of whatever religions they embrace, even the NO-RELIGION religion, as with Atheists and Agnostics.
The question is then to KNOW why we believe what we believe and is what we believe true?
God encourages us to ask questions and He will get the answers to us in time.
I once saw Jesus. His beard was strange looking to me. His chin beard was like a goatee but the middle section was missing. It gave the appearance of a W. Later, in reflecting on the encounter, I ask Him why He wore His beard that way? I heard nothing.
Sometime later I was walking and to my inner ear came, “They pulled My beard out.”
That point is written in Scripture text, but it had not registered with me.
The most powerful and convincing reason I believe is NOT any experience I have had, and there have been several. The reason I believe is The Word of God, that proves itself to be true.
“Who is a God like Me that can tell you a thing before it happens?” *3
Prophecy fulfilled, hundreds of them fulfilled to the letter in every fact, those are the reasons I am certain beyond any doubt that God is, and His Word is accurate. The Holy Bible is every word TRUTH.
Science has often disagreed with The Holy Bible only to have egg on the proverbial face after Archeologists have uncovered absolute proof that the Bible was accurate in detail.
At this day, in which we live, prophecies of thousands of years past are coming true, in detail.
I began to read the Bible at 8 years old. No, I wasn’t a special child, I just liked to read and there was no book in our house except the Bible. We lived in the woods of Wild and Wonderful West Virginia and there was no library there either.
I recall reading in the Revelation about the two witnesses that lay in Jerusalem for three days and the entire world looks upon their bodies and celebrates them being dead. I doubted that. “How can it be that the entire world sees them, in real time?”
In those days, there were no televisions. Of course, I could not understand HOW that could happen. Today, I know that it is possible, we now have Satellites. God knew about satellites, before they were a fact in our world.
