Topic: ANNOYED (04/05/18)
I begin each day with a prayer,

Let all that I do and say bring honor and glory to You.



I turn the key and turn on the lights,

Philippians 4:13 greets me.

Designed to be the first thing I see.

A reminder in times of trouble,

That I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.



My ears hear a soft melody of gospel music that plays nonstop,

Filling the atmosphere with His beautiful calming presence.



An hour later, immersed in a chorus of ringing phones and demands

“Fix this, Ship that, How fast can you make this happen”



I hear a series of curse words.

They are my own.

My teeth clinched tight.

Evidence of a migraine begins.

Stress builds.



By day’s end,

My head hangs low.

I have failed my Father once again.



My heart longs to please Him.

My flesh and tongue fail.



Repentance is now heavy in the atmosphere.

Tomorrow I will try again.

Beginning with my prayer to let everything I do and say

Bring honor and glory to Him.

I am reminded of Romans 3:23,

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Tomorrow I will be better than I was today.

How easy it is to relate sometimes. When we find ourselves "immersed in ... demands," it is easy to lose sight of the Lord. How wonderful it is that He is a gracious and merciful God, that He does not deal with us as we deserve, but deals with us through Christ who died for us. How great that He gives us another chance.

I really enjoyed this. I used to read my Bible twice a day, but somehow got out of the habit. Your delightful poem reminds me I want to do that again so I can forget the annoying things peppering me throughout the day. Good job.

I love poetry, and yours is perfect. You did a bang-up job of putting it pointedly: How we long to please the LORD, and fail so miserably many times. Just remember, though: God is pleased with fighters. Which means, no matter how many times we may mess up, He is proud that we keep getting up and fighting the good fight. You have a truly good way with words, and it really resonates with this reader. Keep up the good work--and the good fight!

A repentant heart and a determined spirit brings God glory and joy.

I think David wrote about things like this many years ago.

Congratulations for your 1st place finish in the Beginners category, Jeanie.

I think this should be a prayer for every believer. I too am reminded how often I need to repeat that verse during the day.
