Did you know ten years ago the average person spent about 60 hours a month on the internet? That’s 15 hours a week or about two and a half hours a day, six days a week—assuming you took Sunday, the Lord’s Day, off. That’s a lot of time!

Fast forward to 2024 and the number has more than doubled.  Recent research shows that people spend an average of 156 hours per month on the internet or about 6.5 hours per day. Surely, we can figure out ways to use the internet to generate income, just as many smart individuals already have.

Passive income—money that consistently flows in day after day, week after week, month after month—is a powerful way to achieve financial freedom. People are creating digital products, courses, and coaching programs to make this happen.

My Journey: From Service Business to Digital Opportunities

Years ago, I started a hauling business while living in a small Hollywood apartment. In my first year, I earned about $7,500 working part-time, which wasn’t much. But I kept at it. By the second year, I doubled my income to $15,000, and in the third year, I earned over $89,000 working just 10 to 15 hours a week.

One of my most memorable experiences was hauling garbage for celebrities. I remember doing two jobs for the late Dick Clark in Malibu. For one of those jobs, I rented a box truck, loaded it up with big bags of garbage, and took it to the Santa Monica dump. For the time spent on that job, I made $150 to $175 an hour—a great income back then!

However, service businesses are labor-intensive and limited to your local area. That’s why I became fascinated by passive income and online opportunities, which allow you to earn from anywhere and reach people worldwide.

Building an Online Business

Let me share some ideas to get started with an online business:

   • Offer a free download to capture email addresses and build your list.
   
   
   • A small email list of 1,000 subscribers can grow into 2,500, 5,000, or even 10,000 people, giving you a solid foundation for launching other products.

   Create a Course or Coaching Program

   
   
   • Online courses or coaching programs can sell for $199.00, $500.00, $1000.00 or more.
   
   
   • Deliver your content digitally through downloads, videos, or live sessions.

   • Instead of being limited by a local business (like plumbing or auto repair), teach others how to market or grow their businesses.
   
   
   • For example, a skilled mechanic could create a course teaching other mechanics how to expand their client base. By sharing your knowledge, you can multiply your income while helping others succeed.
   
   
   
   

Gratitude: A Key Ingredient for Success

Success isn’t just about making money; it’s also about appreciating the blessings in your life.

It is about making the right choices and obeying God in everything you do.

Success is about developing good habits that build your character.

Learn to have good discernment and be enthusiastic in your work.

• Be thankful for your legs when you stand each morning and walk to the kitchen.


• Enjoy the smell of coffee or hot chocolate and thank the Lord for your sense of smell.


• Hear the birds chirping outside and be grateful for your hearing.


• Look at the beautiful flowers and appreciate the gift of sight.

Having an attitude of gratitude will energize you and inspire others around you.

The internet provides endless possibilities for creating passive income and reaching people worldwide. Whether it’s through eBooks, courses, or coaching, the opportunities are there for anyone willing to learn and put in the effort.
