Atheist- Good luck escaping the cult, friend.
Atheist- That sure is one kind of cult. Shame you seem to have replaced it with just another cult, a religious one, expressing itself through the form of uncritical regurgitation of antiquated dogma, and the abrogation of personal responsibility. Again, best of luck in sorting your life out.
The Christian faith is never antiquated because it liveth and abideth forever as the seed is sown by the Father/Creator. Christianity teaches total responsibility. My critical thinking is based on the superb critical thinking of God as revealed in His word the Holy Bible. Why do you have no faith in your Creator? How have you fallen by your unbelief?
Atheist- you're free to believe whatever gives you comfort, my friend. But in my opinion the idea of a loving, all knowing, all powerful God as described in your bronze-age book of fables is logically inconsistent. Pain and suffering in the world proves it so:if God is able to prevent suffering, but unwilling to, then he is malevolent. If he is willing to prevent suffering but unable to, then he is impotent. If he is both able and willing, then how can there be suffering? If he is neither willing nor able then he cannot be a god.- Old logical thought experiments like that disproved your concept of a loving interventionist god many many centuries ago. If you still cleave to the idea, it's because you require more comfort than I seem to, nothing more than that.

God is both able to prevent suffering and willing to prevent it but have you forgot that he gives man free will? It is man who is unwilling to meet the terms of his Creator. The terms for forgiveness is repentance and faith toward Jesus Christ. Why should the Sovereign of the universe stoop to pity a rebel like yourself? If you humble yourself before this mighty God you despise and question He may show mercy and alleviate your misery and suffering. God's ways are not our ways neither his thoughts our thoughts. We think that God is like ourselves but God is totally above and beyond us. Therefore it behooves us to study Him by searching the scriptures and discovering wonderful things from His law concerning His person and attributes. Seek and ye shall find. Matthew 6:33

-But if a god is all powerful AND all knowing, whenever he/she creates a being, then god must logically know everything that that created being and all of its countless descendants, will do at all points in the future. -In other words, an all-powerful, all-knowing god would have no choice but to pre-destine man to his fate.
Either your god knows exactly what choices I'm going to make at every point in my life, or he is not all-knowing. Thus the only way for me to make good choices, is for your god to have pre-determined that I will make good choices in the manner in which he created me. -So once again we reach the same paradox: If I make bad choices and your god KNEW I would make bad choices, he is malevolent. -If I make bad choices and he did NOT know I would make those choices, then he is ignorant.-So if you believe that your god created you, AND is all knowing, then he is malevolent.

Start with your obligation and the command to repent and you shall understand it was of God's mercies and grace that enabled you to do so. Nobody will be able to accuse God of injustice on judgment day because they were not chosen to salvation. They will only have themselves to blame for their sin and unwillingness to repent and turn from it. Having said that I do not believe as most Christians that God will punish with ever lasting torment those he never chose to salvation. This idea is based on the false Greek philosophy of the immortality of the soul. The soul is not immortal. Neither the body. Both fell into sin and suffer eternal death but if redeemed then both body and soul are saved from ever lasting damnation. By damnation I mean annihilation...the Lake of Fire which is a picture of ever lasting destruction. What God creates He can also destroy and that include the soul.

One of God's attributes is His wrath and he pours out His wrath on the ungodly on Judgment Day. “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;” Romans 1:18
Because God is God He establishes the rules for life and He requires obedience for by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned. Could God have created man (Adam) with the impossibility of sinning? I suppose so but then you have to throw out man's free will and he becomes a robot. Rather God created man with a will neither biased toward good or evil but in a state of moral balance.

You're simultaneously positing that your god created me and knew exactly what I'd do at every moment of my life, and ALSO gave me some quality that makes me capable of doing something OTHER than what your god has planned.-In short, with free will, you're suggesting that your god created a rock he himself could not lift. A paradox, a logical impossibility. You have yet to address this point. What is your logical answer?-

Nothing surprises God seeing He is omniscient=all knowing. I said that God allowed the fall for a greater purpose than programming man to be a robot.

Atheist- "Nothing surprises God seeing He is omniscient=all knowing." - You miss the point again (deliberately?) If your god is all-knowing and nothing surprises him/her/it, then at the moment of creating me, it knew what I would do every moment of my life. That is completely logically incompatible with your claim that your god has ALSO given me a free choice to do whatever I want. I cannot choose, because all my choices were pre-destined by the god that created me. If it wanted me to do something else, it would have to have created me differently. -"I said that God allowed the fall for a greater purpose than programming man to be a robot." - There is no way for your god to be all knowing, and to create beings, and NOT program them like robots. If he created me and knew everything I would ever do from the moment he/she/it snapped its fingers at the beginning of time, that is the definition of a pre-programmed being.-You claim that nothing surprises your god, but that it has nonetheless given its creations free will. This is logically incompatible, because giving something a choice means it can do two or more different things OF ITS OWN CHOOSING. Since your god pre-destined all our choices ahead of time, we have no choice.-You then post a whole bunch of barely relevant scripture; once again it's barely coherent dogma, basically gibberish. Only logical arguments have any weight in this world, and these don't qualify.

you fall into the fallacy of the false doctrine of fatalism. Just because God knows everything in advance doesn't alleviate your free will before the fall. Now you only have limited freedom. Before the fall man had more freedom because his nature was not bent toward evil/sin but now man has no excuse. God set up Adam the first man as the representative of mankind. When Adam failed the test and ate the forbidden fruit you and I died in Adam whether we like that or not. God set up the rules.God never forced Adam to sin and neither does He force you to sin.
We sin because we choose to sin and can not blame God for what our evil hearts desire. Try as you may you fail to convince me or God that you do not deserve eternal damnation for your wicked heart. Do you sin? Ofcourse and so you must have the penalty for you sin for the wages of sin is DEATH but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Seeing you would rather argue with me and God you haven't yet seen your terrible and miserable condition yet. Pray that God would reveal more of your wickedness that you might be humbled and seek the Lord while He may be found for I sense your condition is one of ruin unless you repent and turn to your Creator.
Stop trying to justify your evil actions by blaming God. That will only make God's wrath burn hotter against such foolishness and pride.

And not only did your god create beings with NO free will (no free choice is possible if your choices are all pre-determined), but he/she/it then set up rules that meant that the very "bad" choices she had pre-programmed into the beings were grounds for her to punish them? You even admit it yourself when you say "God set up the rules." God made all our choices ahead of time, he set up the rules, and then he punishes or saves us on the basis of the choices he made for us. Your god sounds like a spoiled, petulant child playing with dolls. you have an intelligent mind but you are not using it to prove anything substantive. Let me establish a few ideas by defining terms. God alone has real free will. He created the universe out of nothing, i. e. "Ex nihilo". He did so with great wisdom beyond mankind's limited wisdom.The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens." Proverbs 3:19
God is everywhere at once. Theologians refer to this as one of God's incommunicable attributes because this attribute can not be communicated or transferred to man. God is omnipotent, i.e. all powerful but not man. He is also omniscient or all knowing but not man. These are also incommunicable attributes. Why? Because of who God is. To know everything like God and to be all powerful existing everywhere at once you would have to be God. God is God and we are not and so we must accept our creaturehood for what it is. We were created good as was all the creation, the trees, grass, sea, stars, moon and sun. Now we all suffer the consequences of sin.
The New England Primer taught the alphabet in this manner "By Adam's fall, we sinned all." Excellent truth for learningand poetic to boot.Man's will is limited to only that within his ability. Thus you and I may fly a kite or drive a car or plant a garden. We have the freedom to do this because we have the ability presumably to do these things. However, neither you nor I have the freedom to live forever apart from God granting us eternal life. Thus Jesus prayed to the Father: " As thou hast given him (Jesus) power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him." 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." Job was put forth this question:' "Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?9 The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea." Job 11:7-9 This is another limitation of man. Man may search til he is blue in the face and never know Godexhaustively. He may apprehend him but can never comprehend him. He may know God but only in a limited sense, to the degree that God has revealed himself to finite man.Man is free to read a book and to write a poem if he/she has the ability to do so. So I trust I have established something of man's free will.
Many churches teach man has the free will to somehowcome to salvation but with this I disagree because "Salvation is of the LORD" not of man see Jonah2:9 However, we may and must seek God if we truly desire to escape his judgment or punishment for our sins.
Finally, you are in denial about God's very existence and I must say this is probably a disingenuousbelief because you've probably taken God's name in vain many times but why do that? Why use a deity you do not even believe exists? If you have then you've committed blasphemy which under the OldTestament law for the Jews was punishable by death. It is a very serious offense against the person of God. I can not prove God's existence. Nobody can but that doesn't mean he doesn't exist. Goddoesn't attempt to prove himself either. Man inherently knows there is a Creator, or greater power and that evolution is a farce, a figment of his wicked imagination made popular by the apostate Charles Darwin.

He may know God but only in a limited sense, to the degree that God has revealed himself to finite man.Man is free to read a book and to write a poem if he/she has the ability to do so. So I trust I have established something of man's free will.
Many churches teach man has the free will to somehowcome to salvation but with this I disagree because "Salvation is of the LORD" not of man see Jonah2:9 However, we may and must seek God if we truly desire to escape his judgment or punishment for our sins.
Finally, you are in denial about God's very existence and I must say this is probably a disingenuousbelief because you've probably taken God's name in vain many times but why do that? Why use a deity you do not even believe exists? If you have then you've committed blasphemy which under the OldTestament law for the Jews was punishable by death. It is a very serious offense against the person of God. I can not prove God's existence. Nobody can but that doesn't mean he doesn't exist. Goddoesn't attempt to prove himself either. Man inherently knows there is a Creator, or greater power and that evolution is a farce, a figment of his wicked imagination made popular by the apostate Charles Darwin.
In Genesis God has declared "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." I presuppose the existence of God and take that as my given or pre-theoretical starting point for unlessI do you can not prove anything. Objective truth ceases. An epistemological problem is unsolvable to the atheistic mindset. Believe it or not. Perhaps Ripley's would be happy to include this in his world famous museum.
We're now approaching a crisis in our world's history....spiritually, financially, politically, educationally and much more. We are in dangerous time as God foretold by the apostles. I really hope you do not remain in unbelief much longer for if you should die in such a state you will meet God on unpleasant terms.
I hope you find God by seeing your many failures or sins and that these have separated you from your Creator. There is no other way out of the mess you are in except to be born again of the Holy Spirit. See John 3:1-7.
