1. Start reading a new book-underline key phrases, words or ideas to help your retention of the material. Remember leaders are readers. The most important ideas, concepts and thoughts have been written down in books over the centuries. Most people don't read enough of the good material available to enhance their mental, spiritual and emotional growth.

2. Memorize 1-3 Bible verses and recite these over and over throughout the week until you can give chapter and verse without much difficulty. You'll need and use these for the rest of your life when witnessing to others about God's truth.

3. Spend time in prayer- start with 3 minutes at least and work up to longer periods perhaps 30 minutes. Can you do that? Make it your challenge. Most Christians do not spend nearly enough time in prayer.

4. Meet at least 3-5 new people and take a genuine interest in them. Try to get them to talk about what is most important to them and proclaim the gospel and the whole counsel of God.

5. Give some of your money away to a worthy cause rather than just your local church. Try a homeless shelter for women or children for example.

6. Pick up a good English dictionary and learn at least two new words and their meaning. Use them in a sentence. This will improve your vocabulary and help you become a more effective communicator. In a year you'll have learned over 100 new words.

7. Listen to a several good YouTube videos on a topic of great interest to you. You might be surprised how much more you'll learn using youtube as a learning tool rather than your television with all of it's manipulative programming.
