My last letter was from Esther Doolittle. This letter is from her mother Mrs. Ada Doolittle. As I mentioned before Mrs. Doolittle first taught me to play the piano when I was growing up at Faith Baptist Church in Stockton, CA. I'm so thankful the Lord used this dear woman to teach me what little I know about playing the piano.

I kept in touch with Mrs. Doolittle until about 1995 just before moving to Hollywood to pursue acting. We always had good conversations about the Christian faith. Missions was one of her passions. She would tell me stories about Jonathan Goforth and other missionaries which didn't much interest me at the time but they mean more to me now that the Lord has done a better work in me.
I trust Mrs. Doolittle is with the Lord now for I doubt she would have survived this long although I know her mother had longevity. It has been so many years since I've spoken to her or her daughter Esther. I wished I could see or hear their voices now.

The following letter was written to me when I was in Marine Corp bootcamp in Camp Pendleton, San Diego, CA. She knew the difficult training I was going through and she made mention of that at least once in this letter.

Dear Carl,

I just reread your letter and see I didn't tell Holcombs to write. He called here Sun and had me find him "Andrew and the Hurricane" he told in DVBS two years ago.

You've really been through it. I pray for you as u know.

We have been busy with DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) Lois flew up and helped us. She sure got the kids to sing and they brought 2800 pennies for Bangladesh. The program was well attended. The Lord gave us a good time and souls saved. Sun the church gave us a surprise dinner for our 32 anniversary. They gave us a gift in $ so I am using some to buy a supply of Chick tracts. This is something I have been praying I'd have the $ to do.

Monday, Jim and I took Loreen & Paco up to Sacramento to catch a ride to Lucerne. Rick & 3 other Y P went to Pilot earlier.
Monday afternoon we put Lois on the plane for L. A.and then we went out to dinner for our celebration.

A lovely family-the Firpos were working with our Y. P. (Young People) but leaving for Bob Jones U.
We'll miss them and do pray for a replacement.

The neighbors from across the street moved out to Lincoln village and will attend Swain Oaks Baptist Church. I hope they get good teaching there.

David and Marilee came down last week. Went to S. F. and Newark all day. One day she helped DVBS while David worked on our car. He brought me a Coleus 4 feet wide- real pretty.

Shorts flew back to Missouri but Rick is here painting triplexes.

Esther phoned but I was out at the time. She took some summer school.

There is a family with 3 Y.P coming now- 2 girls and a boy Paco. They seem eager to learn and participate one girl. The boy helped in DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) The 2nd girl is not as settled & needs prayer.

Our SS (Sunday School) has been above last year almost every Sun and we plan promotion for fall.

I have alot of sewing to do now.

John's brother, wife and daughter are coming out next month.

You certainly did well in the rifle range. I'm sure you made it in the torturous gas chamber and I do sympathize with you in the need for ice water. How terrible Hell must be.

May the Lord help you right through until Sept 8th when you graduate. Yes, make them see that Christians aren't sissys.

I first read about one of our P.O.W. pilots in N. Viet. It was just terrible what he went through but he came to know Gid in such a deep way at the very end.....of himself.

Well, I better do something else. I've been at the desk all afternoon but its been a pleasure.

Lou Nixon is still in the hosp. Bev is in & out and now really needs prayer.
