Today I was going through some boxes in my library closet and found an envelope with about a dozen old letters from the 1960's written by my mother mostly but the one below was written by my step father Dwain Pruitt.

Dearest Elbert & Vada Mae,

I hope you haven't torn this letter up before you read it.

I know what your probably thinking, but please read this letter with a open

mind and a soft spot in your heart. Although you think I pulled

a dirty trick I really didn't mean it that way.

You probably wonder why I am writing this letter well it is to

let you know that I have or never had any hard feelings toward

(you) and I never will. I think you folks are the most

wonderful persons in the world and hope that you are doing o.k.

and hope you have forgiven Elvada for making the mistake in

marrying me, although I don't think it was a mistake and I

hope I showed you the way to except her the right way. But that

is all in the past.

You probably won't answer this but if you do would (you) tell me

how you are getting along, also if Elvada is o.k.

I doubt if you want to know anything about me but I tell you

anyway. I have been in the army for about 2 months, I am now in

the medical corps, and there is nothing wrong with my health.

I hope I have not said anything to offend you. if I have i am

deeply sorry, because that was not my intention.
