God's Sovereignty

Many quarrel with God about His sovereignty. They see others not half as good as themselves obtain mercy from God and so reason within themselves that it would be unjust for God not to show them mercy They see others far more wicked than themselves get along fine in the world who do not seem to be the objects of God's displeasure.

Has the thought of God being unfair or unequal in His dealings with mankind every crossed your mind? Consider the counsel of Isaiah 45:9 "Woe to him that striveth with his maker. Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it what makest thou?

Some people despair of hope and salvation from God because they lived their lives pretending to seek God and never found the salvation that they hoped to obtain. They didn't want to waste anymore time trying to find God so they found themselves going back to their old sins and never shaking off their old life. There was never a new creation or creature formed in them but only a moral reformation falling short of salvation. Perhaps you have never denied yourself the pleasures of this world and your bosom sin which so easily ensnares you.

Without telling your church friends you secretly sought to gain favor with your family and friends and make a name for yourself in this world. In this life you sucked from the deceitful riches of the world and enjoyed the pleasures of sin more than you did the pleasures of obedience to the Christ you professed to follow.

Now ask yourself this: if there was the slightest possibility of you not obtaining salvation, and there is, since the way to heaven is straight and narrow and few there be that find it, how would you live your life seeing that you must give up so much? (Matthew 7:`13-14)

After searching your heart can you really deny yourself what you might really desire such as the pleasures and comforts of life, delightful entertainment, massive wealth, adventuresome amusement parks, travel, live sporting events, tremendous personal power, and the most delicious food money can buy?

If you could be a success in this world, as men count success, would you? Why would you limit yourself only to the company known as "the elect" and deny your desires even if they were contrary to your Creators?

Does the prospect of having a better life now outweigh your desire for heaven and the glory of being with Jesus Christ, which very very few will ever obtain anyway, because it is not within your power but Gods?. Moreover, after all has been weighed and considered do you see eternal life as a thing so desirable that the least hope of obtaining it outweighs all the difficulty of seeking it?

There is a possibility of salvation for those who will submit to God's sovereignty. Is there nothing better than to resign yourself to the Lord's mercy and to the thought that if God were to damn you He would be perfectly just in doing so because He owes nobody anything?

We are told in Revelation 4:11 that God created us for His honor and glory. Therefore whether we eat or whether we drink let us do all to the glory of God.
