Faith
Today we are taught in most universities that we live in an amoral universe or a morally relativistic universe where there is no absolute truth. Without the reality of an absolute God governing and predestinating all things according to His good pleasure then man is left to a world of chance where brute factuality rules.
As Christians we know and believe that an absolute God governs us by His law word and that this law word is truth for all ages and cultures to by which to govern ourselves. Thus, where is there room for broadmindedness when it comes to salvation and morality?
In areas that are clearly layed out in Scripture we are not free to choose what "we think" is right. Such freedom will prove to be in actuality bondage and bondage of the worse sort when God leaves us to our own devices. Instead, we must show or prove our faith to be genuine by obedience to God's word. This is the necessary works that James says we must have in order to demonstrate that our faith is saving and genuine.
Does not God have a definite mind on every situation and should we as Christians not seek to discern His will even if this means being considered "narrowminded"?
Ancient Israel's problem during the rule of the judges was that everyone went about doing that which was "right in his own eyes". We have the same problem today. People don't want anyone else telling them what is right for them. Everyone is tempted to believe the Devil's lie which from the beginning was designed to cast doubt on God's word "Yea, hath God said?"
Yes, God hath said and what God hath said we are to obey or suffer the consequences. God has given us His Divine revelation as found in the inspired Scriptures so that we no longer have to walk in darkness and the broad path that leads to destruction.
In the garden Adam was told by God he would die if he ate of the forbidden fruit. Man choose to believe the Devil instead of God and died as a result of his disobedience.
A rebellious and wicked spirit operates in the world of the unconverted who walk after the course of the first Adam and this earthly wisdom and philosophy which teaches us that we are our own god and that we determine our own truth and reality.
Modern autonomous man is left helpless and hopeless apart from the God of the Bible. He is lost in a sea of a myriad of beliefs unable to disengage and disentangle himself from the fleshly wisdom and carnal reasoning of those void of Biblical faith. In his quest for broadmindedness and peer pressure acceptance people are encouraged to be open minded in matters of morality or ethics.
Thinking for yourself apart from the Bible is not thinking God's thoughts after Him but rather it is thinking according to autonomous reason which attempts to put God on a level playing field with man concerning factuality and ultimate truth. In other words autonomous man would have you doubt God's absolute truth and instead substitute your own truth whatever you decide that may be.
In answer to those who call Christians narrow minded we can be glad that it is so in the sense that Jesus must be seen by modern man as also very narrow minded for He said concerning salvation and the path to eternal life " I am the way, the truth and the life; no man comes unto the father but by me" (John 14:6)
Notice that Jesus didn't say I am one way or a way among many possible ways or that I am just one of many possible truths or lifes but rather I am the way, the only way the one absolute way to eternal truth and life. To paraphrase the words of Jesus. I am the very essence of truth and life. You must find your life and truth in me. If you would have eternal life you MUST FOLLOW ME and NOT WAVER OFF COURSE into another way that proclaims through it's broadminded thinking that you can be saved and find truth.
Better to be in such good and blessed company as that of our Lord and Saviour who was the paragon of perfection, holiness and obedience to His father's will. As the perfect preacher Jesus was in His day the most humble and wisest proclaimer of truth to a lost generation.
Let us all follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Let us all spread the good news of His glorious salvation. There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
If believing this statement makes us narrow minded then who in their right mind wants to be broadminded?

Who Said Broadmindedness?
There is no room for broadmindedness in the chemical laboratory. Water is composed of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. The slightest deviation from the formula is forbidden.
There is no room for broadmindedness in music. The skilled director will not permit his first violin to play even so much as one-half note off the written note, chord, and key.
There is no room for broadmindedness in the mathematics classroom. Neither geometry, calculus, nor trigonometry allows any variation from exact accuracy, even for old time's sake. The solution of the problem is either right or wrong. No tolerance there.
There is no room for broadmindedness in biology. One varying result out of a thousand experiments will invalidate an entire theory.
There is nor room for broadmindedness on the athletic field. The game is to be played according to the rules with no favors shown, not even for "charity's sake."
There is no room for broadmindedness in the garage. The mechanic there says the piston rings must fit the cylinder walls within one-thousandth part of an inch. Even between friends there cannot be any variation if the engine is to run smoothly.
How then shall we expect that broadmindedness shall rule in the realm of Christianity and morals?
He that forsakes the truth of God, forsakes the God of truth. (Copied from the Australian Beacon)
