I am curious if Jesus knew from the start that Judas would betray him.
If Jesus saw Judas one day and said to himself, there's the guy that will
betray me. Jesus described Judas as a friend one time. I am curious about
how Jesus felt about knowing a friend would betray him in to the hands
of the enemy.
Sometimes as Christians we can experience this kind of betrayal. Have
people claim to be our friends and when we need them the most,
they betray us in to the hands of the enemy. Suddenly, they don't have
time or have their own troubles to worry about. We can find out what
kind of friends they really were.
This doesn't end with just our friends but with others we've come to
trust. Authority figures we never dreamed would turn their backs on
us when we need them. When they do, it shocks us in every part of our
being. Sometimes we call people friends and we speak too soon.
How do we deal with it when it happens? Only God can give us peace
when we are betrayed by those we trust and admire. When our friends
are no where to be found. One thing we must do is find our strength in
God and in a way we never have before. This is especially true if those
that betray us are within our own circle.
We have to realize spiritually that people will hurt us. Sometimes on purpose.
Sometimes not. When no one else is there for us, God is always near to calm
our despair. Give us peace in the midst of our storms. When we need it most,
guide in the things of life. Betrayal is one of the harshest realities we can ever
face however, it can be a blessing in that it forces us to trust God in new ways.
