We love those who love in return,
But it’s love that can soon turn to hating
If our love is rejected or spurned.
God’s love is love in perfection
He loves even those who reject;
In Christ is its flawless reflection
He is love and is love’s architect.
He came from the portals resplendent
To a world of sinners so lost;
A love so amazing, transcendent—
Its ultimate proof in the cross.
“Father, forgive them,” entreated,
As He gave up His life in His love;
The work of redemption completed,
Resurrected, He’s seated above.
Now love by His Spirit’s imparted
To all who’ve availed of His grace;
We, once defiant, hard hearted
Are changed by God’s loving embrace.
Let His love through us be outshining
As we see His coming draw near
And signs of the times are aligning,
Show His love without favour or fear.
Love is the bond of perfection,
Put it on and may peace fill your heart;
Let us love with Godly affection
For it’s God’s love that sets us apart.
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection,
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you were also
called in one body; and be thankful. Col 3:14 & 15.
