He came, enlightening every man
the only begotten God
born of Mary
peasant girl, full of faith
then the gentle wind of the Spirit blew upon the veil
its breeze escaping under the billowing fabric
and the Lord brought revelation to the sons of men
Joseph knew
Mary cradled the Son, her son
pondering wonderful things in her heart
shepherds joined the celestial choir
wise men worshipped at his trough
then He grew, this God-child
pilgrim of Nazareth
carving wood by his father’s side
learning the Law at his mother’s feet
teaching in the temple
young Jesus, soon-becoming man
then the gentle wind of the Spirit blew upon the veil
its breeze escaping under the billowing fabric
and the Lord brought revelation to the sons of men
John cried prepare the way
the Lamb of God arrived
a dove appeared
the Father spoke as the Son arose from the Jordan
Holy Trinity affirmed
the disciples confirmed, we have found the Messiah
come and you will see
follow Me
said this carpenter-Messiah
to the fishermen-turned -disciples
then the gentle wind of the spirit blew upon the veil
its breeze escaping under the billowing fabric
and the Lord brought revelation to the sons of men
in the wine of celebration at Cana in Galilee
in the hearts of new believers at Jerusalem
in the night watches where Nicodemus walked, calling out “Rabbi!”
at the well where grace was poured
then He turned the talk to food,
said His food was to do the will of His Father and accomplish His work
so He healed a son
broke the Sabbath
caused the lame to walk, the blind to see
and fed five thousand with five barley loaves and two fish
then declared to His disciples,
I am the bread of life
believe in Me and you will never hunger or thirst
Jesus spoke
I and the Father are one
and with His life He displayed His Father’s power
revealed His truths
disclosed His nature
uncovered His plan
unveiled His Father’s heart
then His hour drew near
His mission near complete
and darkness fell upon the land
upon the cross where Jesus cried out
even there the gentle wind of the Spirit blew upon the veil
its breeze escaping under the billowing fabric
and the Lord brought revelation to the sons of men
this is Jesus King of the Jews, they posted with nails
the same nails they drove through our Lord’s hands and feet
tears spilt from heaven
then a rending of fabric was heard, a veil torn in two
the earth shook and rocks split
as the Son entered in and sat upon the throne
and on that hill below they marveled
truly this was the Son of God
then side by side
the Father and Son
with cherubim and seraphim
with the great cloud of witnesses
gazed upon the earth
smiling
anticipating
for the way had been made clear
by the Son
who has unveiled our Abba Father
now the gentle wind of the Spirit blows freely
bringing revelation to the sons of men
forevermore, wise men shall worship at His throne
