Not an hour and she calls me as I’m driving home
Says she’s fine yet somehow I can tell from her tone
She needs words that only a true friend can give her.
Yeah, her roommate arrived and she’s really a drag
Won’t shut-up, won’t sit down, every word is an arrogant brag
Can I help? What would I do if I had this problem?
A house made of glass, a rock in the hand
You can’t make the choice unless you understand
Every song has a melody, if you just listen.
Yes the drugs were a part of his life
So much pain, so much hurt, so much guilt, such unbearable strife
Said they cared, yet no one had been able to reach him.
In his eyes I could see a small trickle of hope
In a glance, I could tell he’d turned loose of the ropes
How amazing it was when he broke down and smiled!
A house made of glass, a rock in the hand
You can’t make the choice unless you understand
Every song has a melody, if you just listen.
Sharing herself with strangers.
Despite the element of danger
How badly she thought she needed the money.
Who were they? What was she?
Why should she want to be
anything like any of them anyway?
Passed her by, walked along
not a word, not a song
No one to tell her how much they loved her.

Every song has a melody, if you just listen.
Not a sound entered in
Deafness came, what a sin!
Yet the melody was more than he could keep.
Never hearing, still he wrote
Every sound, every note
What a marvel was Ludwig Von Beethoven!
A lot to be said, just as much to be heard,
Concentrate on listening and not just the words
Every soul is a melody which needs renewing.*

Before you throw your stone, remember; Mercy triumphs over judgement and love covers a multitude of sins, allowing us to hear beneath the surface. I loved this. Very thought provoking.
