For many people living in the Western World, Australia as well as New Zealand seems to be dropping off the bottom of the planet.
Jokingly we make the comment that they are living upside down!
They are progressive countries, successful in many sports and politically exceptionally well balanced. Their ‘no nonsense’ approach to new immigrants is to be applauded. While tolerating a multiplicity of races they maintain the policy that new residents accept the host country’s standards and policies. Muslims that want Islamic Law are encouraged to leave and find a country where they would be happy to make such demands.
Over a century ago, Britain deported unwanted criminals there. Because it was so remote and far away, it was the safest place to send them. Those unfortunate people found a land with much potential, plenty of space to settle and farm. Recognising that hard work would be required became the incentive for reform. Those who had been condemned for stealing now found themselves in areas where there was no one from whom they could steal. They were all in the same boat, for many of them had arrived on the same boat.
Many notorious folk have been produced by the ‘natives’ and ‘immigrants’,
Perhaps the most famous being, Crocodile Dundee; a very entertaining fellow. Whether in the swamps and out-back or in the jungles of New York City, he didn’t change. Australia and New Zealand are much more than the environment of locals like Dundee. We would do a major injustice to a culturally advanced people if we visited there expecting to see only the ‘bush’ dwellers.
Both countries are open to welcome new immigrants. It is the place for anyone who is fed up with the ice and snow, and the below zero wind chill temperatures. Residents in North America today might feel more comfortable upping and going, especially if not wanting to face the February blahs! (That attitude might change by the time their winter arrived!)
The big decision,- which country would be best for me?
