Thoughts that began in the heart of a dream
Raindrops of words that fell on the hillside
Quickly became a bright, trickling stream.
Gaining momentum with gravity’s phrasing
Spilling forth over the mind’s rocky slopes
Cascading forward on creative clauses
It sparkled, driven by inspired hopes.
Slowed by the plateau of wandering meadow
The waters grew still in an indolent mind
Searching for brilliance the stream flooded forward
Grasping and reaching for fresh thoughts to find.
Suddenly - broadened by new motivation
The river rushed forth with creative speed
Dancing it scampered with newfound expression
Currents impelled by the intellect’s feed.
Waves of excitement gathered quite quickly
Courses of content surged all around
Surely this river would realize greatness -
Its message so grand, its depth so profound!
Yet, round one more bend its course would be finished
Its open mouth stunned with a new certainty -
For all it thought great, it had just now discovered
It was only a drop in the Great Writers Sea.
