Topic: Junk Food (08/30/12)
I try so hard to stay well
I watch what I do and eat.
When I think I succeeded
I’ll start to crave something sweet.

Typically I’m in a hurry
To get myself everywhere.
That’s when I buy something fast
Eating it unaware.

In ten minutes I’m hungry
Do it all over again.
This will go on forever
I do not think it will end.

Again I’m eating junk food
Stressing the state I am in.
Suffering because I’ve failed
Is there no mercy, can’t win.

How similar this is to sinning
Both can take your pride away.
Each shows a weakness in you
That happens to you everyday.

When you’re in a hurry
Sometimes forgetting to pray.
You say Lord won’t You give me?
You say it an offhanded way.

This living makes you so weak
When you fall into the pit.
It does not give you the strength
It makes you want to just quit.

Just like in a food diet
The faith you have makes you strong.
Have a spiritual supper
Helping you find you belong.

God does not carry junk food
His builds you up everyday.
Helping you choose what’s best
He gives in so many ways.

Our body is God’s temple
We’re to keep it in good shape.
No junk foods at the table.
Substance on every plate.

So when you are in a hurry
You could take a short pause.
Just for thanking the father
For all the things He has caused.

Instead of the quick brush off.
Show him the smile on your face.
He’ll remove all your junk food
Putting His smile in its place.

I love the message in this delightful poem: too busy to pray? That's junk food! It's so convicting. Many times it's easy when you've got a lot on your mind to forget God and pass him a quick request rather than actually spend time with Him.

That part at the end is precious: Instead of a quick brush off, show him the smile on our face. He'll remove all your junk food, putting His smile in it's place.

That's the kind of quote you could have framed and hang upon your wall.

This is a sweet and encouraging poem. We are indeed blessed to have God in our corner and it's important to thank him and walk with throughout the whole day.
