Title: Creation Redeemed
The earth was formless, empty and dark
The Spirit kept watch o’er the deep.
God said ‘Let there be ……’ and Creation was born
The Beginning awoke from deep sleep.
Daylight , blue sky, dry land and sea ,
Seeds bearing fruit, tall trees, vegetation.
Sun, moon and stars with birds soaring above.
While creatures and fishes teemed in the ocean.
God was well pleased, it all looked so good
But it needed an Adam and Eve
Two souls to enjoy, to tend and to care,
To trust in their Maker, obey and believe.
Total freedom was given, theirs to explore
Just one tree forbidden to touch.
The Serpent persuaded, the apple beguiled
Sweet perfection was traded a fatal punch.
Ah, …. the sound of God in His garden
His companions nowhere to be seen
He calls and he questions aware of their shame
They have fallen. His pain is so keen.
His patience long tried and well tested
By many through centuries of sin.
Great ones and small, both you, also me
Have broken his heart by our failure to win.
The Bible is full of stories inspiring
Musicians and leaders, patriarchs, kings
Encouragement, training, instruction and warning
So much richness their legacy brings.
Because of the broken friendship from God
The plummeting apple had set
The prophets gave warning, time to repent
For forgiveness could only in a Messiah be met.
The message was heard of a Saviour
A child who would set people free
For all who believe in the Son Jesus Christ
New life and forgiveness, eternally.
Watching and waiting the sign to fulfil
See a Star in the East start to shine
Hark! A cry in the dark. A baby is born,
The Christ Child is here. Yours and mine!
