In thinking about fulfillment and what it means to me, I wasn't drawn to the usual results that it involves. Instead, I was led to thoughts about my salvation, knowing that my relationship with the Lord has enveloped me with a fulfillment like none other. Continuing to think along these lines, a question sprang up that left me somewhat surprised, for out of the blue, I queried, "Why me Lord, why was I chosen?" A time of analyzes followed, causing me to go over my life and highlight the spiritual scenes that satisfied that question. What stood out was prayer, intercessory prayer by Christians who were praying for me along the way.
It began back in my early childhood when I lived with my grandparents in their two family house. We occupied the first floor and the second story was rented to a family who had emigrated from Norway, sharing the same heritage as my grandparents. But they were different. My family called them the "holy rollers" because they attended a church that was considered outside the norm. Uncle Ole, my grandfather's brother, was dubbed one of those, too. He would come to visit on Sundays, always carrying a large black, leather bound Bible. On the days he couldn't make it my grandparents sighed with relief, but I missed him. Then there was the precious missionary from the store front mission down the street, who led me to salvation.
Those were the Christians who prayed for me as I went through my childhood and continued along life's pathway. So, as an adult, hurting from the bruises and scars of some poorly made decisions, the Lord sent one of His own to befriend and rescue me. Through her friendship and faithful prayers, I finally made my way to her Bible Church and it was there that I recommitted myself to the Lord.
Recalling these events, I realize that those prayer warriors played a major role in my life and because of their prayers and the Lord's grace I am a recipient of the gift of spiritual fulfillment, the greatest of any fulfillment that I could possess.
