In the evening, when I stumble home after a hard day’s work, I will not turn on the television, computer, or radio. Instead, I will glory in the solitude and quiet that belongs to just you and me.
Each night when I reflect on the day’s success or failure, I will remember to thank you for the patience you show me. You are always there when I need a shoulder to cry on and a loving hand to wipe away my tears. You give me so much strength. There is nothing I can’t accomplish with you by my side.
Each morning, you are the first thing on my mind. Just as each sunrise brings rays of hope for a new beginning, I promise to find that hope in planning and sharing each day with you.
I warn you now that sometimes I like to retreat under that warm quilt of forgetfulness when the storms of life beat strong on my windowpanes. Please forgive me when I try to take control of my life and everyone else’s. I’m an infant in this school of learning, called LIFE. I guess some bad habits take a hard time to die, but I’m trying so very hard to be more like you.
I came to love you late in life. Yet in loving you I’ve found that love has no boundaries in time or space. For it is in giving myself to you completely, allowing you to control who I am and what I do, that I have truly found the freedom to be “me.”
Lord, please don’t give up on me now.
