As followers of Christ, we are striving, daily, to learn how to wait upon the Lord. What it boils down to is simply a matter of trust. We get in such a hurry to do what we see needs to be done, that we just jump in and try to solve it ourselves. It may seem like a good solution, until later on. It is then, that the “good feeling,†we may have had at first, soon dissipates, once we realize we weren't so wise. We soon, discover that the situation would have looked a lot better, had we put all our trust in the Lord. When we do pray, we often times find ourselves fitting into one or all of these categories:
1. We ask God for Divine Intervention, in hopes that the
answer will come faster.
2. We ask God to give us wisdom in making decisions.
3. We often times ask for help in a particular situation,
but we are somewhat unsure that God will resolve the
issue on time and to our satisfaction.
4. We become, what society would probably refer to as, an
Indian Giver or what is, in my opinion, a Give and Take
request. We give it to the Lord, but the minute we have any
doubts, in how the request is being handled, we quickly take
it back.
5. And lastly, we give our request to the Lord and often times
feel like we need to help Him in resolving the matter.
All of the above ways in which we pray, are all good and successful to us, but when we make these requests, we must leave it in His hands. He is unable to work in that situation if it is not totally surrendered to Him!
Our faith is strengthened, as we are waiting on Him. We begin to rise above our circumstances, because we have developed a stronger level of trust, in the Lord. The Holy Spirit begins to help us see things through His eyes. Several things, in our lives start to change, when this happens. It never happens the way we expect it to and He always begins on the inside (our spirit) and works His way to the outside (we become a light to others around us). Once this has been established, in us, then we can move forward.
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings
like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

(red ink) I caution the use of politically correct terms such as the one used in Point 4 - "Indian Giver". That could spark some real negative feedback in some circles.
May God continue to bless you with words to write.
