First came the finances. Small and innocuous blocks that had no serious impact on the young couples lives. They prayed for a quick fix during dinner one night, then tucked their credit card debt into a refinance on their five year old home.
Sizeable chunks began to fall out of nowhere when the young bride took on a new, better paying job. They needed a more durable, more elegant vehicle. New tires, new shocks, an unexpected pregnancy, The young couple prayed an easy pregnancy, but three months of morning sickness, noon and night sickness, made the remaining months tight. They hoped to God that she would be able to return to work once the baby was born.
Hectic nights. Late night feedings. Lack of sleep. Church became a distant memory. Too many hours spent at the office, too few nights together, and the pillars of the marriage began to crumble. Communication was the first to fall, and neither one could remember when it happened. And prayer didn’t seem to work anymore.
A difference of opinion. A denial of any wrong doing. A long foreboding silence.
Finally, Trust caved in. Secrets. Accusations. Tears. Their marriage was omnishambles, and only the Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent God could bring healing and reconciliation.
Guilt and shame brought the repentant father and shame-filled mother to their knees.
She had not meant to reject the Cornerstone of their marriage, the author and finisher of their faith. He had not meant to neglect the wife of his youth, nor cause her to doubt.
Praying and kneeling soon brought forgiveness and healing to a life once omnishambles.
